A conversation I had with Goose while I was getting ready for the day.
Goose: Did you used to believe in the TV makeup stuff?
Me: What do you mean?
Goose: You know, when they tell you it’s really good and you believe them and then buy it?
So I’ve thought of at least three things I could take from this conversation:
1. I’m teaching my child to be skeptical of wild advertising claims. Good.
2. I’m raising my child to be a total cynic who mistrusts everything she hears. Not so good.
3. I shouldn’t bother putting on makeup anymore since even my 6 year old daughter can see that it’s not helping and is worried about her mother living in some kind of delusional state. Hrrrmmmm.

I think it was a total dis, personally. She’s like my #2 who often says things like “mom, you should put make-up on today”. Yeah. Nothin’ but honesty, which, when you think about it, is a good thing, really.

I don’t wear make-up so when I read that I thought she meant “make-up stuff” as in “made-up stuff.” I was wondering how many 6 year olds watch infomercials.

I think I’d go with 1 and 3. Sorry.

She said, “Did you USED to believe,” so maybe she was dissing the way you used to make yourself up. She wasn’t looking at old photos or anything when she asked this, was she?
Or maybe she did mean made-up stuff, like Susan said. You should really get a clarification. How else will you know whether or not you need a makeover?

I assume she meant actual make-up because I was putting on make-up at the time. I don’t usually pay any attention to her verb tenses because my kids are constantly mixing those all up and using them inappropriately. (I wonder where they get that from?)
And I don’t think there’s any question about whether or not I need a makeover.

I would just go with #1 but then I’m not one to let a little thing like reality get in the way of my positive outlook.
