Prove me wrong, Universe! and a special comment

19 Nov

Yesterday I made an appointment to have BigHugs’ picture taken.  So you know what that means—some time in the next 24 hours she will either come down with a cold, a raging case of pinkeye or have some other kind of face-maiming accident.  She hasn’t had a professional picture taken in over 2 years.  Can you guess why?  It seems almost irresponsible of me to risk my child’s health and safety this way with an actual scheduled appointment, but for some reason I felt it must be done.  I’m hoping this time the universe will prove me wrong.  Prove me wrong, Universe!  Prove me wrong!

And now, on a more serious note: a Bythelbs special comment.

Yesterday something else happened that turned my world upside down.  Black is no longer black.  White is no longer white.  Everything is just a big fat puddle of muddled gray.  And just when I was thinking that things might be starting to calm down—that maybe we’re getting ready to move past all of this election drama and settle into our new reality.  But now I’m not so sure we’re ready to move on together.  It seems that we’re as divided as ever.

I consider myself to be a very open-minded, reasonably non-judgmental person.  I like to think of our little blogging community here at Bythelbsia as a safe place for people of all persuasions, walks of life, values and ideas, but even I’m having difficulty reconciling my affection for dear friends with their individual beliefs and opinions.  No, I am confident I can get past this.  It may not be today or even tomorrow.  But the day will come again when I can see you all as the good, good people that you truly are regardless of your Cheetos-density preference.  It will come.  I must believe it.

No stale puffy Cheetos, but stale licorice, marshmallows, gummy bears, swedish fish….divine.

Will you have them take a professional picture that does not reveal BigHugs’ true identity so we may all enjoy?

I have to admit that although in the event of having to choose between Crunchy or Puffy, I will have to choose crunchy, I really have no intense hatred for the puffy. But since this is about preference, I’m totally safe! Yes!

I would say that BigHug’s pictures will defy all odds and be the best pictures of her, ever. They have to be, because if the rules of logic (or Murphy?) apply, then if you worry like crazy, there will be nothing to worry about. But take out that worry?? Watch out!

Just believe that you and I can be reconciled…puffy and crunchy….Yes We Can!

See? This is why I don’t get into politics…

    good luck on the photos!

Don’t hate me because I prefer puffiness.

Julie—I think I’ve actually posted a full on pic of BigHugs before, so it’s not outside the realm of possibility. If there’s a picture worth my purchase, that is. She is by far my least cooperative child when it comes to picture posing.

cheryl—I like the way you’re thinking with this Murphy’s law thing. I figure if I make a big enough deal of it, it will turn out to be a non-deal.

Mother—I believe we can all just get along.

shazza—I’m thinking it’s my fault for bringing it up. I should have stuck with a don’t ask/don’t tell policy then I could have continued to live in blissful ignorance. Thanks for the good photo wishes!

Susan—Hat you? Never. I’m sure I will have lived a richer, fuller life for having befriended puffer. And sometime down the road when I find myself accused puffism, I can point to you and say, “I am no puffist! I have all kinds of puffy friends that I never thought any less of for having been so.”

Cheryl is right – you must continue to worry about the photos until the time for worrying has passed. You’ve done well to voice your concerns aloud–or at least ascreen–to others. That puts you on record as respecting the universe’s power. May the universe have mercy on you. (Not that I’m telling the universe what to do, mind you! I’m just expressing a preference.)

I think we can be reconciled with puffy-lovers. It takes all kinds to make a world. Also, more crunchy Cheetos for us.

I feel that the universe is definitely on your side this time.

“Some of my best friends are puffy!”

Don’t take your kids for professional photographs. When it’s picture day at your kids school, call the office and ask them when you can bring your pre-schooler to have her picture taken. I must have fabulous timing, because they always say “right now would probably be the best time.” You take her over and fill out a form just like you did for the others and write a check. Since you’ll be there they will show the pictures to you and keep taking them until you’re satisfied, just like they do at Kiddie Kandids. But here’s the best part…..all the pictures on the wall will match! And you won’t look like you’re favoring the youngest my having fancy shmancy pictures take of only her. And, no, this is actually the best part….they’ll be done without having to make and appointment.

But they won’t be nearly as cute.

I just can’t get past Bythlbsia. I LOVE that!

flip—Thank you! I sure hope so!

mad—“And I don’t even notice anymore!” Hoping you’re right about the merciful universe bit.

E—I’ve known people who have done that! Pictures, in general, just stress me out. Completely. Even school pictures. I’m totally riddled with anxiety the whole week of school pictures. It’s ridiculous.

Alison—And you are a most beloved citizen.

Yes, I AM shamefully late on commenting, since the crisis is now past and the pics are complete… But we DO want to see them! Can you photoshop-fuzz her face out so you don’t violate her privacy by posting child pics online? 😀
