Secret’s in the sauce

8 Apr

Mr. T has a new recipe for exclamations.

In the middle of a very important video game.

Me: Mr. T, you need to get your piano practicing done.

Mr. T:  Crap sauce!

Dinner time.

Mr. T: What’s for dinner?

Me: Chicken and mashed potatoes.

Mr. T:  Awesome sauce!

On a Monday afternoon.

Me:  No piano lessons today–they’ll start back up next week.

Mr. T: Score sauce!

Secret’s in the sauce.

A different kind of recipe.

BigHugs, whispering in my ear really close with hot breath: You’re my best love.

Three parts adorable, one part creepy.

    I have a friend who’s taken to saying awesomesauce. Of course, she’s 36 and a mother of 4, so…

“The sauce-a you can have…but the secret, she’s-a mine!” (SBTB)

Alison—Yeah, that’s actually how I was leaning, but I didn’t want to seem ungrateful for a devoted child.

Tawnya—At first I thought you were talking about me (I’m a friend and 36 and a mother of 4!), and I couldn’t remember having ever said the phrase personally, but then I realized I must just be one of your many fabulous friends who fit that description.

    Julie—No, you’re all parts awesome!

Mother—SBTB?? Help me! (I’m having one of those slow-on-the-uptake kind of days.)

SBTB is Saved by the Bell…sorry, I forget that not everyones hubby has all the seasons on DVD and has the JOY of re-watching them constantly. 🙂

As soon as I hit publish, I KNEW you were going to think it was you. I actually know more than one people who fit that description! ha!

what’s the deal wth all the saucy talk? A girl I watch taught Big Sister to say ‘tarter sauce’ when things don’t go your way and my friend has said ‘weak sauce’ to me on a few occasions. I’m feeling behind the times these days.

    • bythelbs April 8, 2010 at 4:45 pm #

I think “tartar sauce” is a Spongebob thing. I’ve never heard “weak sauce”. I’ve been feeling behind the times for years. YEARS.

So that explains the “tarter sauce.” We don’t get Spongebob here, but the girl I watch watches it all the time. I felt really old when I said something was rad the other day and Big Sister said, “What does rad mean??” I just shook my head.

A friend of mine just barely called someone “weak sauce” the other day. It was the first time I’d heard it too. We are so lame! 🙂

I could be wrong…but I think the SBTB might stand for “Saved By the Bell?” I can’t say for sure. But that’s what I think of when I see those 4 letters together!! But I think of Saved By the Bell every day on at least one occasion…so this might just be it. Oh Zach…

I think the creepy/adorable comment is precious.
