Around town

16 Jun

Yesterday I saw a car at my girls’ school with “I <heart> Erik Estrada” written in the dirt on the driver’s side door.

Same day, I was driving by the church where my kids had their recital and noticed their message board welcoming D. Harsh as their new worship director.

Our local cemetery has a plastic banner sign hanging up amidst their gravestones advertising a holiday special: Buy one get one free plots.  Pre-need only.

The Little Caesar’s sign spinning guy has a new guitar shaped sign, which goes perfectly with his long hair and mutton chops.

Our guy’s way cooler than this chump.

Have you ever seen this?

What’s happening in your neck of the woods?

My husband was the Little Caesar’s dude when we were newlyweds (the actual Little Caesar dude, big head, plush costume with toga). I have a picture of him playing piano as LCdude with a country band at a random fair. It’s one of my favorites. When he was in HS, before we met, he was the Red Robin.

Evita—You married a mascot man. Sexy.

Flip—Oh yeah, the excitement never stops here.

I noticed that at the cemetery too and had to chuckle! I almost signed up. Can’t pass on a good deal like that!!
Have you also noticed that at that same cemetery, their official sign has misspelled the word cemetery with “cemetary?” Really now, people. Really. Show some respect for the dead by at least spelling the word cemetery right.

Tell me the LC guitar-sign actually plays music…Oh, that would be rockin!

    “Pre-need only.” Classic.

What would be cooler is if the sign spinner was dressed up like Erik Estrada as Ponch.

Kamille—I never noticed that misspelled sign before. There’s just no excuse for that.

Mother—I always see the sign spinners with earphones. I wish I knew what they were listening to.

Mad—What would be even cooler is if the Erik Estrada sign spinner was for the cemetery!

They have new signs now! I noticed the last time I drove by. Obviously they must have clued into the error of their ways.

The cemetery sign… are they worried that people will stop dying so they need to stock up now? Hmmm.

Hey, Lora, you were my 5000th comment! I think that deserves some kind of prize. E-mail me your address. (Actually, I’ll e-mail you first. I never check the e-mail address from the blog.)
