When did June happen?

1 Jun

Oh my, time flies when you’re.

So much going on, so little to say.  I’m trying to psych myself up for tomorrow’s field trip with DynaGirl.  We’re spending the day in Seattle and then staying overnight at the science center.  Overnight, as in sleeping bags, as in sleeping bags on the floor, as in sleeping bags on the floor that millions of people have walked on after walking on heaven knows what else, as in sleeping bags on the floor that kids with no DNA ties to me have probably abused with all manner of fluids.  Fluids.  And stuff.  And *SHUDDER*.  And did I mention there will be 5th graders?  One hundred from our school alone and then heck knows how many others from who knows where.  Good.  Honk.

So that’s tomorrow and tomorrow night and then Friday we come home and then Saturday comes afterwards.  (Sorry, Evita!)  Saturday starts off just fabulously with a trip to the dentist for a filling and to check on a crown that possibly needs to be replaced.  Boo.  But it’s OK because Saturday night is U2, baby.  U2!

We’ve had our tickets for a year, so there’s a big build up of anticipation.  Don’t let me down, Bono.  Don’t let me down.

I’ll let you know how it goes.  I hope you have a lovely rest of your week/weekend.  I’m off to prepare for tomorrow’s temporary dip into the depths of exposure-to-public-rather-not-think-about-it-hell.  Seriously, the floor!

My friend saw U2 in SLC and she thought it was wonderful. I hope you do too!

As for the floor…I’m so sorry!

Good Honk indeed! I won’t blame you if you decide to leave your sleeping bag in the dumpster outside of the science center on your way home. You just can’t wash the memory of that floor out of any fabric. *shudder*

Trust me. The year build up did NOT disappoint. There are SEVERAL suckier ways to spend a Saturday night!

Camping out in the science center? That must be a west coast field trip trend that hasn’t arrived in the east yet. I can not, in a million years, imagine my son’s class doing something like that.

Trying to remember if one of my kids contributed their bodily fluids to that floor last summer…….I don’t think so.

That reminds me that our membership expires soon. We only went that one time on vacation, but it was cheaper that way for our ginormous group than buying tickets AND we got flyers all year long telling about more cool stuff we miss out on since we left the great northwest.

    The floor? **shudder**

How did you volunteer for this?!? That is my question. As for U2, I am writhing with jealousy. Well, maybe writhing is too string of a word, but you know what I mean.

I have honestly never heard of people staying the night at a science center… I’m so sorry! So very sorry. loved the movie clip. Good luck.

I have issues with sleeping over, no matter the circumstances. That would be very difficult for me. Having said that, though, what a cool field trip! The kids will love it.

Wish you lived here and were coming with us to Def Leppard!

I’m really intrigued with this sleepover field trip idea. I don’t know. But I’m impressed by your ability to overcome the germiness of the whole proposition to be with your girl.
And you DESERVE U2 after a sleepover on a science center floor and a dentist appointment.

Amanda—Thanks! It actually wasn’t as bad as I imagined.

Mother—Fortunately, I was able to put 5 inches of air mattress between me and that floor!

Tawnya—I can think of a plethora of suckier ways. A PLETHORA.

Patience—Apparently they do these “camp-ins” every spring/summer for schools or even families. It wasn’t as bad as I thought, but certainly not an experience I feel inclined to repeat. Unfortunately, I have two more girls to go on this field trip in the next 5 years.

Evita—Next time you’re up this way we should try to hook up. Well, not “hook up”, but you know what I mean. I would love to meet you in person.

Flip—It’s nice to know we’re all on the same page here!

Cheryl—I actually enjoy the thought of you writhing with jealousy. Is that weird?

Lora—I just pretended that there was a nuclear holocaust and we had to gather in the last building standing.

Shaz—It turned out to be a cool field trip for the kids. My daughter enjoyed herself, and after all it’s for the children, right? Pffft. Oh, and Def Leppard with all of you would be AMAZING.

Julie—I did deserve it! And I basked in it! Basked, I tell you!

Woob!!! You’re alive! I miss you, too!
