12 year old wishes

27 Sep

DynaGirl turns 12 on Sunday, and I’ve been bugging her to make a birthday list so I have some kind of clue what to do.  Here’s what she gave me yesterday:

THINGS I WANT FOR MY BIRTHDAY:

New Toothbrush
Prisma Colored Pencils
Mirrors – One to go over my dresser and then a full one
Laptop
Puppy
Makeup?
Skulduggery Pleasant Books
Money
Matched Books
Sweaters – cute ones
Mariachi Band costumes

Bulletin Board
Analog Clock
Fruit Pops

New Gym Shorts + Sweats
Friends
Happiness
Are you still reading this?
Love
BUTTS
World Peace
an Umpaloompa
a golden egg
meet Chuck Norris
Have you got ticked off yet?
Do you know what you’re gonna get me?
a bag of mice
some buttery socks
pre-ran-over-cats

*These are in no particular order

~

Her birthday lists are always so helpful.

My family aspires to be your family. Will you adopt us?

I have a daughter just about Mr. T’s age. I’m making plans, just so you know.

Mariachi Band costumes? There’s a story there. I’d like to know what it is.

Mariachi Band costumes? Hilarious. Love the list. Totally made me laugh. Shared it with the family, who also laughed. OUT LOUD.

How did you get such radical kids? Oh wait…..

“Have you got ticked off yet?”….Teenage attitude! 😉

    Shaz—Of course!

Evita—Oh good. You’ll be our plan A. Now if we could just get the kids on board.

Alison—She wants to be a mariachi band member for Halloween. Not sure why that would require multiple costumeS, but maybe she has other as of yet undisclosed mariachi band related aspirations.

Boquinha—Glad we could put the OL in your L.

Julie—Thanks. I think you and yours are pretty rad, too.

Mother—Oh yeah, we’re definitely getting to that point. It’s been a slow and steady climb for the past several years. Good thing my kids have so many other redeeming qualities to go along with it.

The key will be to never speak of the plan to the kids. Ever. Well, maybe at the reception, when it’s too late.

That reminds me of the lists we used to make for Christmas when we were kids — the ones where we listed all the things we didn’t want to receive.

“pre-ran-over cats” – That’s the trouble with young people these days–they don’t want to work for anything!
