Best Mad birthday wishes from four hot old guys

17 May

Happy birthday, Mad!  May all of your wildest birthday wishes come true!  Well, maybe not ALL of them. *wink*

Two in a row!

15 May

Thanks for the anniversary wishes.  We celebrated with a romantic evening of fine food and cinema.  If you enjoy actiony super hero movies with a healthy dose of comic relief, I can comfortably recommend The Avengers.

Chuck surprised me with a weekend getaway to exotic Seattle, and a coupon good for new bathroom tile.  I am very excited!  I gave him an iTunes gift card to replace the ones I’ve been swiping from his sock drawer to sell to the kids.  I’m starting to worry that one of these days Chuck’s going to figure out who’s getting the better end of this whole marriage deal.

With such a lavish follow-up to my Mother’s Day bounty, I’m feeling very spoiled.  In addition to the flowers, candy and dinner gift card from Chuck, BigHugs grew me a marigold plant at school and drew me a sweet card and Goose gave me TWO boxes of Jr. Mints AND a special MOM card with coupons good for “free nap time” and “free alone time” and “unlimited hugs and kisses”.  What brought an even bigger smile to my face was finding additional coupons, including “free car washes” and “I’ll do the dishes for a month”, in my bathroom trash.  Goose’s generosity is tempered with a healthy dose of prudence, a life philosophy I fully support.  DynaGirl gave me a box of cards with “13 reasons why I love you”–one for every Mother’s Day we’ve had together–and a lovely card with her adorable signature drawings.  And finally, Mr. T folded me a paper airplane on the way home from church and adorned it with nonsensical Spanish phrases.  All in all, a pretty good haul!

And this week I will earn all of this praise and adoration with trips to piano lessons, dance recital costume alterations, dance class pictures in full costume and makeup, inconvenient eye appointments, hair appointments, church youth group ice cream parties (at my house!), school volunteering (Yes, Madhousewife!), 1st grade music programs, elementary school talent show assemblies (which I already sat through two weeks ago when it was combined with the PTA basket raffle fundraising night, so bonus points for that!), two (possibly three!) nights of homemade dinners of the non-leftovers or frozen components variety, and secret trips (possibly involving television producers!) to Seattle with DynaGirl.

So how are you?

14 May

I’m breaking my blog post fast with a quick happy anniversary to Chuck.

Don’t we look ecstatically happy?

Happy Anniversary, Chuck!

Thanks for putting up with me all these years.

Love you,
