I’m like the crypt keeper

13 Sep

Last night Goose went roller skating with her church youth group. When she got home, Chuck and I grilled her on all the particulars as we strolled down our own memory lane.

Chuck: Did they have a disco ball?

Goose: Yeah.

Chuck: Did they turn the lights down low?

Goose: Yeah.

Chuck: Did they play music?

Goose: Yeah. They played old-timey stuff like Eye of the Tiger.

Me: Old-timey??

When did old-timey go from Jimmy Crack Corn to Eye of the Tiger??

Your title is from the LindsLo version of Freaky Friday, right?! That line cracks me up every time! Totally love Jamie Lee Curtis in that. šŸ™‚

I think the same thing each time I hear songs from 1992ish. When did the songs I grew up with become 20 years old?!?

Brandon played some 1990 goodness the other day and like Flip Flop, I kind of freaked out when I realized it was so old. Ish. Oldish.

I had this exact same thought when we were down in CA last week and our rental van had one of those fancy screens that tell you what songs are on the radio, and what the station is, etc? Well, the station we had it on most of the time was labeled a “Classic Rock” station, and it was playing all 80s! I was like…”what the freak?” When did 80s music become considered “classic rock?!!” Classic rock is like 60s and 70s…but apparently the 80s are now considered classic. Tragic. We are getting old!
